HEADLINE STOCKS-U.S. stocks on the move on May 18

NEW YORK, May 18 (Reuters) - Some U.S. stocks to watch on Monday:
STATE STREET CORP (STT.N)
The bank plans to sell stock and bonds in order to repay an infusion of taxpayer funds. It also took a $3.7 billion after-tax charge. For more see [ID:nN18328122].
Shares of State Street rose 2.8 percent to $39.59.
LOWE'S COS INC (LOW.N)
Shares of the home improvement retailer rose 9.5 percent to $20.23 after it reported its first-quarter results. [ID:nN18278974]
AMERICAN INTERNATIONAL GROUP INC (AIG.N)
The insurance company is to speed up plans to list its Asian unit through an IPO that could raise more than $4 billion. [ID:nN17390217]
Shares rose 5.2 percent to $1.81.
BANK OF AMERICA CORP (BAC.N)
Shares of the Dow component rose 8.7 percent to $11.60 after Goldman Sachs added it to its conviction buy list.
ONYX PHARMACEUTICALS INC (ONXX.O)
The pharmaceutical company on Sunday said it sued Bayer AG BAYG.DE over its rights to an anti-cancer compound that it says it discovered during joint research with the German drugmaker. [ID:nN17389823]
Shares of Onyx fell 2.4 percent to $24.70.
MGM MIRAGE (MGM.N)
JPMorgan upgraded the company to overweight, saying it saw no near-term bankruptcy fears for the stock. [ID:nBNG491096]
Shares gained 5.1 percent to $8.06.
TXCO RESOURCES INC TXCO.O
The oil and gas company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, saying it continued to experience substantial difficulties in meeting short-term cash needs. [ID:nBNG432858]
Shares sank 34 percent to 35 cents.
WAL-MART STORES INC (WMT.N)
Barron's on Sunday wrote that the retailer knows its stock is trading at a bargain, noting that it bought 19.2 million of its own shares in the latest quarter. [ID:nN17267159]
In addition, the Wall Street Journal reported the company was revamping its electronics departments to attract customers who previously shopped at Circuit City Stores. [ID:nN17290537]
Shares of Wal-Mart rose 1.8 percent to $49.03.
CERNER CORP (CERN.O)
Barron's on Sunday wrote that though shares of Cerner were expensive, there could still be further upside because of "gaping holes" in healthcare information that were starting to get filled. [ID:nN17508381]
Shares of Cerner rose 1.5 percent to $56.33.
MEDTRONIC INC (MDT.N)
Barron's on Sunday forecast upside of 25 percent to 30 percent for Medtronic over the next 12 months, citing the company's cash levels, desire for acquisitions and commitment to stock buybacks and dividends. [ID:nN17281733]
Shares of Medtronic rose 0.9 percent to $33.69.
STEC INC (STEC.O)
Barron's wrote that shares of the flash memory technology company could rise if it delivers on its 2010 profit outlook. [ID:nN17280007]
Shares rose 4.5 percent to $15.
LOGILITY INC (LGTY.O)
Business software maker American Software Inc (AMSWA.O)
said it would raise its tender offer price for Logility.

Logility shares shot up 35 percent to $6.93.
XTENT INC XTNT.O
The company's board approved a plan to liquidate the company's assets, after considering potential strategic alternatives. [ID:nBNG384362]
Shares sank 64 percent to 36 cents.
