NEW YORK, June 18 (Reuters) - Some U.S. stocks on the move on Thursday:
CATERPILLAR INC (CAT.N)
The heavy machinery company said its global sales dropped 43 percent in the three month period ended in May. [ID:nN18388033]
Shares of the Dow component fell 1.9 percent to $34.14.
WELLS FARGO & CO (WFC.N)
The company's chief executive said in a newspaper interview he would like the bank to repay the $25 billion it took from the TARP program as soon as practical, but he gave no time frame. [ID:nN18380266]
Shares rose 2.3 percent to $23.62.
SLM CORP (SLM.N)
The company won a government contract to service student loans. [ID:nN17354927]
Shares surged 5.7 percent to $8.13.
DISCOVER FINANCIAL SERVICES (DFS.N)
The company reported a rise in its second-quarter earnings. It also posted a charge-off rate of 7.79, up from the level of 6.48 percent in the first quarter. [ID:nN18298778]
Shares rose 5.7 percent to $9.42.
TRAVELERS COMPANIES INC (TRV.N)
