ADR Report-ADRs fall as risk aversion, dollar rise

* Dollar rises, hurting natural resource stocks

* Fed meeting, G20 eyed

NEW YORK, Sept 21 (Reuters) - Overseas shares traded in the United States fell on Monday as risk aversion crept back into markets and a resurgent dollar weighed on natural resource stocks.

Investors were wary ahead of the Federal Reserve's two-day policy meeting that begins on Tuesday and in the run-up to the G20 meetings later this week where world leaders are expected to address ways to regulate the global financial system.

The Bank of New York Mellon index of leading American Depositary Receipts (ADRs) .BKADR fell nearly 1 percent, while the U.S. benchmark S&P 500 index .SPX lost 0.4 percent.

Miners came under pressure following metals prices that fell on concerns over rising inventories, and a firmer dollar, which rose 0.5 percent to a basket of currencies .DXY.

The U.S.-traded shares of BHP Billiton (BHP.N), the mining giant, fell 2 percent. The Wall Street Journal reported the company planned to use part of a cash surplus of around $18 billion to fund acquisitions, possibly involving some large rivals. For more, see [ID:nB432285]

The Bank of New York Mellon index of leading European ADRs .BKEUR fell 0.9 percent. In Europe, the FTSEurofirst 300 .FTEU3 index of top shares ended down 0.7 percent.

The U.S. listed shares of the Aluminum Corp of China Ltd (ACH.N) declined 3.4 percent in New York, tracking a drop in the price of aluminum, while the Bank of New York Mellon index of leading Asian ADRs .BKAS was down 1 percent. Asian shares were mostly lower.

Spain's biggest bank Santander (SAN.MC) could raise up to 13.13 billion Brazilian reais ($7.3 billion) by listing 16.2 percent of its Brazil unit Banco Santander (Brasil) SA, the company said Monday. [ID:nLL3120].
