U.S. stock index futures were down on Wednesday, pressured after Dow component Boeing Co (BA.N) reported a quarterly loss, increasing concerns that the market was headed for a pullback.

Dow Jones industrial average futures DJc1 fell 40 points while S&P 500 futures SPc1 slid 4.7 points and Nasdaq 100 futures NDc1 lost 5.5 points.

Shares of Morgan Stanley (MS.N) rose in premarket trading on Wednesday, after the company reported third-quarter earnings that beat expectations.

It was the financial services company's first quarter of profits after three straight losing quarters.

Shares of Boeing Co (BA.N) fell in premarket trading on Wednesday, after the planemaker reported a third-quarter net loss.

The loss came on charges related to the company's first three 787 flight-test planes, as well as its 747 program.
