AES Calif. Redondo 7 natgas unit shut

NEW YORK, June 25 (Reuters) - AES Corp's (AES.N) 480-megawatt Unit 7 at the Redondo Beach natural gas-fired power station in California shut for unplanned reasons by Wednesday afternoon, the California Independent System Operator said in a report.

The 1,310 MW station is located in Redondo in Los Angeles County about 20 miles south of downtown Los Angeles. There are four units at Redondo, two 175 MW Units 5 (which entered service in 1954) and 6 (1957), and two 480 MW Units 7 (1967) and 8 (1967).

The other units were available for service.

One MW powers about 700 homes in California.
