NEW YORK, June 25 (Reuters) - DuPont (DD.N) and Bayer AG BAYG.DE said on Thursday they had signed several licensing agreements that will resolve a patent infringement dispute over their biotechnology agriculture products.
The two companies sued each other earlier this month over patents and licensing deals concerning genetically modified seeds for corn and soybeans that allow farmers to use stronger herbicides and insect repellents .
"DuPont and Bayer have a strong history of working together, and these agreements set the stage for additional collaboration between the companies," James Borel, DuPont's group vice president, said in a statement issued by the two companies.
The new agreements set cross-licenses that will "enable next generation" seed technologies and weed and insect control strategies from Bayer Crop Science, DuPont Crop Protection and Pioneer Hi-Bred Business, the companies said.
DuPont's Pioneer was granted licenses to use Bayer's LibertyLink trademark for its corn and soybean products, and the right to use itsglufosinate-tolerance technology in its soybean product development.
Bayer also provides Pioneer with licenses under its Dual Bt patents and some limited rights for sublicensing.
Bayer will also grant DuPont Crop Protection rights to continue to sell its Q products with Bayer herbicide "safener" isoxadifen.
In May, Monsanto Co (MON.N) sued DuPont for unlawful use of it Roundup Ready herbicide tolerant technologies. DuPont launched a countersuit earlier this month.
Shares in DuPont were down 1 percent to 25.59 in early trade on the New York Stock Exchange. (Reporting by Matt Daily; Editing by Derek Caney)
