UPDATE 1-IBM taps Boeing chief for its board
ATLANTA, Oct 26 (Reuters) - IBM (IBM.N) said on Monday that James McNerney, chairman and chief executive of plane maker Boeing Co (BA.N), was elected to its board.
In a statement, IBM Chairman and CEO Samuel Palmisano said McNerney, who held the top job at manufacturer 3M Co (MMM.N) before joining Boeing in 2005, has "decades of experience running complex, global enterprises."
The addition of McNerney brings the International Business Machines Corp board to 13 members, the company's statement added. (Reporting by Karen Jacobs, editing by Matthew Lewis)
