NEW YORK, June 26 (Reuters) - American Electric Power Co Inc (AEP.N) planned to restart the 528-megawatt Unit 2 at the Welsh coal-fired power station in Texas on June 26-30, the company told Texas regulators in a report.

The company said in another report the unit shut on June 26-30 for scheduled maintenance on auxiliary equipment - the same timeframe as the planned restart.

The 1,584 MW Welsh plant is located in Cason in Titus County, about 130 miles east of Dallas. The station has three 528 MW units, which entered service in 1977, 1980 and 1982.

Unit 3 shut by June 19-23 and will likely return by June 21-26.

One MW powers about 500 homes in Texas.

AEP's Southwest Electric Power Co subsidiary owns and operates the station.

AEP, of Columbus, Ohio, owns and operates more than 38,000 MW of generating capacity, markets energy commodities, and transmits and distributes electricity to more than 5 million customers in 11 states. (Reporting by Scott DiSavino; Editing by John Picinich)
