OSLO, April 8 (Reuterss) - Norwegian seismic surveyor Petroleum Geo-Services ASA (PGS) (PGS.OL) said on Wednesday that a Norwegian court ruled in its favour in a lawsuit filed by rival CGGVeritas (GEPH.PA) against a PGS subsidiary.

CGGVeritas had claimed $70 million in damages from PGS' subsidiary Arrow Seismic ASA, saying it had contractual obligations to charter a vessel to CGGVeritas, PGS said. Arrow denied the existence of such a commitment.

"The court conluded that CGGVeritas' claim for damages was unfounded," PGS said in a statement.

The Asker and Baerum court ordered CGGVeritas to pay Arrow's legal costs, PGS added.
