CHOSUN ILBO
- President-elect Lee Myung-bak will officially announce his nominee for the new prime minister on Monday, according to Lee's spokesman Joo Ho-young.
- North Korea is controlling its speed of nuclear disablement in response to the international community's delayed provision of crude oil, decreasing the number of fuel rods it produces from the Yongbyon nuclear complex to 30 a day, said a diplomatic source.
- North Korea opened its first online shopping website Chollima on its official economic website, selling around 100 various items.
DONG-A ILBO
- Microsoft Corp (MSFT.O) signed a memorandum of understanding with Gale International, which is in charge of developing Songdo International Business District in South Korea, taking interest in measures in developing the district, said chairman Stanley Gale.
JOONGANG ILBO
- President-elect Lee Myung-bak's transition team is considering allowing those with good command of English to serve the country by teaching English in schools instead of military service, according to a transition team official.
MAEIL BUSINESS NEWSPAPER
- Chinese workers in South Korean companies in Shenzen are in a series of strikes, calling for owners to abide by labour laws, according to an official in Shenzen.
KOREA ECONOMIC DAILY
- LG Electronics (066570.KS) won a lawsuit against Seoul Customs Office, recouping 22.5 billion won ($23.78 million) it paid in tariffs previously imposed on its chips for mobile phones, said Seoul Administrative Court, increasing the chance for Samsung Electronics and other 140 makers to recover a combined 232 billion won.
- SK Energy (096770.KS) is considering buying up to three companies which own oil wells with a daily production capacity between 5,000 and 10,000 barrels, said an official. The articles did not specify the location of the wells.
- Daewoo Group founder Kim Woo-choong is considering seeking businesses in Vietnam, Myanmar and Kazakhstan, according to a former high-ranking CEO.
- South Korean car parts maker Mando, majority-owned by Halla Engineering & Construction (014790.KS), is considering doing business overseas and being listed on the domestic and foreign markets after March, said chairman Chung Mong-won.
