SEOUL, July 8 (Reuters) - Seoul shares ended slightly lower on Wednesday, trimming early losses from concerns over the global economy, helped by gains in carmakers and with technology heavyweights such as Samsung regaining ground.

The Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) fell 0.22 percent to finish at 1,431.02 points. Samsung Electronics (005930.KS) rose 0.77 percent and Hyundai Motor (005380.KS) climbed 2.76 percent. (Reporting by Rhee So-eui; Editing by Jonathan Hopfner)
