Nikkei inches 0.4 pct higher, Softbank rises

TOKYO, June 24 (Reuters) - Japan's Nikkei stock average rose 0.4 percent on Wednesday as investors picked up some battered shares, with Softbank (9984.T) climbing after UBS Securities raised its target price for the issue.

The Nikkei rose 40.71 points to 9,590.32 .N225, regaining a bit of ground after its 2.8 percent slide on Tuesday.

The broader Topix edged up 0.1 percent to 902.46 . (Reporting by Masayuki Kitano)
