Nikkei falls 1 pct, GS Yuasa loses glow

TOKYO, June 29 (Reuters) - Japan's Nikkei average fell 1 percent on Monday with battery maker GS Yuasa (6674.T) ending a recent surge after a brokerage downgrade and Daiwa Securities Group (8601.T) tumbling after announcing a $2.5 billion share sale. Oil extended losses towards $68, helping drag Mitsubishi Corp (8058.T) and other trading houses lower.

The benchmark Nikkei .N225 shed 93.92 points to 9,783.47 after spending most of the morning in positive territory. The broader Topix lost 1.2 percent to 915.32. (Reporting by Elaine Lies)
