Taiwan's Compal raises Q2 shipment growth target
TAIPEI, May 7 (Reuters) - Taiwan's Compal Electronics (2324.TW), the world's No. 2 contract laptop PC maker, said on Thursday it revised upwards its second-quarter shipment forecast to 15-20 percent over than the preceding quarter, compared with its previous target of 15 percent growth.
President Ray Chen gave the new forecast during an investor conference.
Compal, which competes with larger crosstown rival Quanta (2382.TW) to supply to top PC brands such as HP (HPQ.N) and Dell (DELL.O), said last month it shipped 6.3 million laptop PCs in the January-March quarter.
