Axel Springer buys 49-pct stake in Polish publisher

WARSAW, June 2 (Reuters) - German media group Axel Springer (SPRGn.DE) has agreed to buy a 49-percent stake in Polish newspaper publisher Infor to boost its presence in the EU's largest ex-communist economy, a source close to Springer said.

The source, who asked not to be named, told Reuters on Tuesday that the amount Springer would pay for the stake would be less than 10 million euros ($14.2 million).

Springer's Polish unit said it would release a statement later on Tuesday but declined further comment. Infor also declined to comment. (Reporting by Adrian Krajewski and Kuba Jaworowski, writing by Chris Borowski)
