TEXT-Downer says considering NZ public debt offer

WELLINGTON, May 22 - Downer EDI Limited (Downer EDI) wishes to inform the market that it is considering making a public offering in New Zealand of fixed interest, unsubordinated, unsecured bonds, maturing in September 2012. The issuer would be its wholly-owned subsidiary, Works Finance (NZ) Limited.

No money is currently being sought by Downer and no applications for the bonds will be accepted, or money received, unless the subscriber has received a prospectus and investment statement. The offer will be restricted to New Zealand residents only. Downer will provide a further update to the market when more details are available.
