Dec 6 (Reuters) - Keryx Biopharmaceuticals (KERX.O) said an independent data safety monitoring committee (DSMC) found no safety concerns regarding Keryx's lead drug candidate, Sulonex, for the treatment of diabetic nephropathy.

The company said the DSMC had found no reason to recommend alteration or termination of the late-stage trial. The main goal of the late-stage trial is "therapeutic success" at six months.

Diabetic nephropathy is a complication of diabetes in which the kidneys are progressively damaged. (Reporting by Neha Pathania in Bangalore; Editing by Amitha Rajan)
