Oct 27 (Reuters) - Canadian hydrogen fuel-cell developer Ballard Power Systems (BLD.TO) posted a narrower quarterly loss, helped by lower operating costs and expects full-year revenue to come in at the low end of a previously stated range.
Ballard said during the quarter, it completed its restructuring plans, eliminating about 20 percent of its workforce which resulted in 30 percent cost savings.
It expects full-year revenue at the low end of its previously stated range of $50 million to $60 million.
For the quarter ended Sept. 30, the company posted a net loss of $12.0 million, or 14 cents per share, compared with a net loss of $15.5 million, or 19 cents per share, a year ago.
Operating expenses came in at $8.7 million, a decrease of $5.2 million from 2008, the company said in a statement. Quarterly revenue fell about 27 percent to $9 million, hurt by a fall in the sales of fuel cell products. (Reporting by Sakthi Prasad in Bangalore; Editing by Valerie Lee)
