Many industry experts believe that the S&N board would consider a counterbid, pointing out that it is persevering with a lawsuit against Carlsberg, on the grounds that the latter's involvement in a takeover offer had "materially breached" a shareholder agreement pertaining to a major eastern European joint venture between the two.
