HOUSTON, May 2 (Reuters) - Exxon Mobil Corp's (XOM.N: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) 150,000-barrel-per-day Los Angeles-area Torrance refinery reported an equipment breakdown on Friday that triggered flaring, according to a notice filed with local air pollution regulators.

The flaring began at 4:27 p.m. PDT and could last until 7 p.m., according to the notice filed with the South Coast Air Quality Management District.

An Exxon representative was not immediately available to discuss refinery operations. (Reporting by Erwin Seba; Editing by Braden Reddall)
