MEXICO CITY, March 10 (Reuters) - Mexican stocks fell sharply on Monday on concerns the United States may already be in a recession and amid market talk of liquidity problems at Bear Stearns.

The benchmark IPC index .MXX dropped 1.08 percent to 28,303 points.

Bear Stearns chairman of the executive committee Alan Greenberg said the market rumors were "totally ridiculous." (Reporting by Jason Lange)
