HOUSTON, Feb 12 (Reuters) - Exxon Mobil (XOM.N: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) Senior Vice President Mark Albers said at an energy conference on Tuesday that the company's Sakhalin-1 project continues to perform as expected, contradicting earlier media reports.

An executive at Rosneft (ROSN.MM: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz), a partner at Sakhalin, said earlier this month that production at the project was expected to fall to 7.9-8.2 million tonnes in 2008. Russian officials had previously said the field would produce around 10 million tonnes this year. (Reporting by Michael Erman; Editing by Marguerita Choy)
