Calpine California Pastoria power plant returns
LOS ANGELES, April 15 (Reuters) - Calpine Corp's (CPN.N: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) Pastoria natural gas-fired power station in California was back on-line by Tuesday afternoon after most of the plant's output was shut for about a day, the California Independent System Operator said in a report.
On Monday, the California grid operator showed that 521 megwatts of the plant's 724-MW capacity was off-line. On Tuesday, all but 21 MW of the plant's capacity was in service.
Pastoria is combined cycle power plant located in Lebec in Kern County, about 30 miles south of Bakersfield, California, on property leased from Tejon Ranch Corp.
There are three 156 MW combustion turbines at the station and two heat recovery steam turbines rated at 169 MW and 87 MW.
One MW powers about 700 homes in California. (Reporting by Bernie Woodall)
