LOS ANGELES, March 19 (Reuters) - Calpine (CPN.N: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) Corp's 546-megawatt Metcalf natural gas-fired power plant in California was back on line by Wednesday afternoon, the California Independent System Operator said in a report.

The plant had been off line since Feb. 20.

The combined cycle station, which entered service in 2005, is located in San Jose in Santa Clara County. There are two 172 MW combustion turbines at the plant and one 202 MW steam turbine.

One MW powers about 700 homes in California. (Reporting by Bernie Woodall, editing by Leslie Gevirtz)
