PERTH, May 22 (Reuters) - U.S. energy major Exxon Mobil Corp (XOM.N) said on Thursday it has signed a gas agreement with the Papua New Guinea government for a proposed liquefied natural gas (LNG) project in the country.

Project partners for the LNG project, which include Australian-listed Oil Search Ltd (OSH.AX), have also voted for the project to enter the front end engineering and design (FEED) phase, ExxonMobil said in a statement.
