CANADA STOCKS-TSX falls at open with financials weak

TORONTO, Aug 11 (Reuters) - Toronto's main stock index was lower at the open on Tuesday on weakness in its financials group, but losses were limited by a rise in the materials sector.

The S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE was off 29.69 points, or 0.28 percent, at 10,763.98. It briefly popped into positive territory before retreating again.

Six of the index's 10 main groups were lower, including a 0.7 percent drop in financials. The materials group led the gainers, up 0.5 percent. (Reporting by Ka Yan Ng; editing by Peter Galloway)
