CANADA STOCKS-TSX extends rise on resources, bank gains

TORONTO, Aug 12 (Reuters) - Toronto's main stock index rose more than 1 percent on Wednesday morning after a cautious start ahead of the U.S. Federal Reserve's policy announcement later in the day.

Strength in the index's three most heavily weighted groups -- energy, financials and materials -- helped lift the S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE 108.33 points, or 1.02 percent, to 10,737.80. (Reporting by Ka Yan Ng; editing by Peter Galloway)
