Spectrum says selling pet unit to Salton

NEW YORK, May 21 (Reuters) - U.S. consumer products company Spectrum Brands (SPC.N: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) said on Wednesday it plans to sell its global pet supply business to a subsidiary of Salton Inc.

Spectrum agreed to sell its United Pet Group for about $692.5 million in cash and some additional consideration, Salton said in a separate statement.
