Immtech says pneumonia drug trial on clinical hold
Dec 26 (Reuters) - Immtech Pharmaceuticals Inc (IMM.A) said a study to collect additional safety data on pafuramidine to support the indications of pneumocystis pneumonia and African sleeping sickness has been placed under clinical hold.
The company said the precautionary measure was taken after preliminary findings showed abnormal laboratory values in several volunteers following treatment with pafuramidine.
The compound, with orphan drug status, is being studied in South Africa, it said in a statement. (Reporting by Sharangdhar Limaye in Bangalore; Editing by Gopakumar Warrier)
