BROWNE'S SUCCESSOR AIMS TO STRIP BUREAUCRACY FROM BP
Tony Hayward, chief executive of BP (BP.L) is planning to reduce the amount of bureaucracy and complexity at the firm as part of a cultural shift at its head office following the departure of Lord Browne of Madingley. The strategy represents part of a move to refocus on profits and operations away from Browne's emphasis on the environment. The efficiency drive will see resources moved from the head office to frontline personnel. Sources claim Hayward wants to see more internal debate and make the group's leadership more collegiate and less "silo-driven".
