PARIS, Oct 22 (Reuters) - Stock market operator NYSE Euronext (NYX.N: Quote, Profile, Research) and French state bank Caisse des Depots (CDC) said on Monday they planned to launch an international market to trade CO2 allowances and credits.

The companies said in a joint statement that they aimed to provide a full range of global exchange-based services to the carbon emissions market.

Due to open in early 2008, the new facility will be majority owned by NYSE Euronext, with Caisse des Depots another main shareholder.

It will offer a market for spot transactions in CO2 allowances and credits, with services ranging from trading to settlement. There are also plans to develop derivative products, which will enhance the market's liquidity and depth.
