SANTIAGO, Nov 2 (Reuters) - Chile's industrial output fell 6.4 percent in September from the same period a year ago, but rose versus August of this year, the country's largest industrial association said on Monday, signaling the economy is picking up.

The figure by the Sofofa group was released days after the government reported industrial production fell 5.2 percent in September versus the same month last year.

Industrial output in September rose 0.9 percent from August, according to Sofofa.

Chile's central bank sees the economy contracting 1.5 percent to 2 percent this year and snapping back with robust growth next year of between 4.5 percent and 5.5 percent. (Reporting by Antonio de la Jara; Writing by Kevin Gray, Editing by W Simon)
