UPDATE 1-Goodyear receives subpoena in marine hose probe

CHICAGO, May 9 (Reuters) - Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. (GT.N) said on Wednesday it has received a U.S. grand jury subpoena for documents related to a global antitrust investigation into alleged price fixing in the marine hose industry.

Goodyear, the largest U.S. tire maker, said it received the subpoena on May 2 and does not believe it is a target in the investigation. It is cooperating with the U.S. Department of Justice Antitrust Division.

"Neither Goodyear nor any of its executives has been named in any criminal complaint and no search warrant has been executed at any Goodyear facility in connection with the investigation," Goodyear said in a U.S. regulatory filing.

A Goodyear spokesman declined further comment.

Eight foreign executives were arrested on May 2 in Houston and San Francisco and charged in a bid-rigging and price-fixing scheme in the market for marine hose, which is used to move oil between tankers and storage facilities and buoys.

U.S. authorities alleged that a conspiracy since 1999 by a cartel sold hundreds of millions of dollars in marine hose and related products. The group also kept agendas and detailed minutes of meetings, according to documents filed in support of the charges.

Search warrants were executed at locations across the United States, while the European Union's top antitrust authority raided the offices of marine tubing manufacturers in France, Italy and the United Kingdom.

Those arrested included executives for British-based Dunlop Oil & Marine Ltd., a unit of Continental Group AG (CONG.DE), as well as Trelleborg Industrie SA, a unit of Sweden's Trelleborg AB (TRELb.ST) and Japan's Bridgestone Corp. (5108.T)

Bridgestone and Japan's Yokohama Rubber Co. (5101.T) said on Monday they had been investigated by Japan's Fair Trade Commission over the alleged price-fixing.
