BP L.A. refinery reports reformer maintenance-state

HOUSTON, Nov 18 (Reuters) - BP Plc (BP.L) reported flaring at its 265,000 barrel per day (bpd) Los Angeles-area refinery in Carson, California, on Saturday due to planned work on a reformer, according to a notice filed with state pollution regulators.

Sources familiar refinery operations had told Reuters reformer maintenance would be done between Nov. 12 and 26.

A reformer increases the amount of higher octane gasoline realized from a barrel of crude oil. (Reporting by Erwin Seba, editing by Maureen Bavdek)
