U.S. WCoast - Gasoline slides on planned restart

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas, Oct 23 (Reuters) - Gasoline was sold
lower on Tuesday as a Los Angeles refinery prepared to complete
its planned overhaul of a crude unit and a coker, traders said.

Unleaded, ethanol-blend November CARBOB gasoline sold at 22
cents over December NYMEX RBOB gasoline. On Monday, October
CARBOB, in its last trading day was offered at 27 cents over
November RBOB. California market gasoline contracts switched to
November on Tuesday.

BP Plc (BP.L: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) plans to complete the restart of a crude unit
and a coking unit at its 265,000 barrel-per-day (bpd) Los
Angeles market refinery by Oct. 31, sources familiar with
refinery operations said on Tuesday. The refinery began planned
work on the units on Oct. 4.

November CARBOB also sold at 20.5 cents over NYMEX RBOB and
then finished at 22 cents. Traders also heard of deals done at
20 cents and 21 cents over.

CARBOB in the San Francisco Bay market was seen between 2.5
and 3.5 cents under L.A.

December CARBOB in Los Angeles was seen in a bid-offer
spread at 12 cents/15 cents over NYMEX January RBOB gasoline.
Portland gasoline was still trading for October and sold at
12.5 cents over NYMEX November RBOB.

Diesels were largely unchanged and untraded as pipeline
shipment scheduling was unavailable on Tuesday.

CARB diesel in L.A. was 19 cents/21 cents over NYMEX
December heating oil while ultra low sulfur diesel was a penny
lower.

Portland diesel was seen at 37 cents/42 cents over NYMEX
November heating oil.

In the L.A. market, jet fuel was at 11.5 cents/12.5 cents
over NYMEX November heating oil.
