UPDATE 1-Conoco files month-long L.A. refinery flare notice
(Adds Conoco comment paragraph 3)
HOUSTON, Sept 27 (Reuters) - ConocoPhillips (COP.N: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) notified the Los Angeles-area air pollution regulator on Thursday of excess flaring at its Los Angeles-area refining complex during the month of October.
According to the notice filed with the South Coast Air Quality Management District, the Carson and Wilmington, California, plants of the 139,000 barrel per day (bpd) refining complex foresee flaring beyond a daily limit of 500,000 cubic feet of vent gas between Oct. 1 and 31.
Conoco downstream operations spokeswoman Terry Hunt said the company's Houston headquarters has not been notified of any turnaround plans at the Los Angeles refinery.
West Coast refined products traders said the notice could be an indication of an overhaul planned for a unit or units at the Los Angeles refinery in October.
