CCB head says no plans to buy into Bear Stearns
BEIJING, Oct 17 (Reuters) - China Construction Bank has no plan to buy a stake in Bear Stearns Cos BSC.N, because the companies' business profiles are different, CCB chairman Guo Shuqing told reporters on Wednesday.
Asked about reports of CCB buying into Bear Stearns, Guo said: "We are a commercial bank, and commercial banking is our main business. The institution you just named, according to my understanding, is an investment bank. Currently we have no plans."
Guo added that CCB hopes to expand its business in Japan.
