Oct 10 (Reuters) - Following are summaries of recent comments by policymakers and Bank of Japan officials on monetary policy:
FINANCE MINISTER FUKUSHIRO NUKAGA, Oct 9, at news conference:
Asked about a BOJ policy decision due at its Oct. 10-11 meeting: "I expect it to be consistent with efforts to bring the economy on a full track towards recovery."
ECONOMICS MINISTER HIROKO OTA, Oct 9, at news conference:
"Monetary policy is under the exclusive jurisdiction of the BOJ, so I won't comment on it. But I expect it to make a decision by carefully examining economic and price trends."
DEPUTY GOVERNOR KAZUMASA IWATA, Oct 4, at news conference:
"The risk of a U.S. economic slowdown is rising somewhat, and the financial market turmoil is adding to uncertainty over the economic outlook. Even so, conditions are not such that we need to change our scenario...
In speech: "We need to be aware that stock price falls and the yen's rise, if sustained, could have a negative effect on Japan's economic outlook." Continued...
