TOKYO, March 6 (Reuters) - The Japanese government will propose its candidate for the next Bank of Japan governor on Friday, chief government spokesman Nobutaka Machimura said on Thursday.

BOJ Governor Toshihiko Fukui retires on March 19 after a five-year term. The nominations for governor and for two deputies need approval from both chambers of parliament. As the opposition controls the upper house, it can block the appointments.
