Japan PM: no plan for new BOJ governor candidate
TOKYO, March 10 (Reuters) - Japanese Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda said on Monday he had no plan to propose a different candidate for governor of the Bank of Japan. The government last week nominated current Deputy Governor Toshiro Muto to replace Toshihiko Fukui when he retires on March 19, as well as two new deputy governors. The main opposition Democratic Party is against Muto because he once served as vice finance minister.
"I put forward what I thought would be the best candidates," Fukuda told reporters. (Reporting by Hideyuki Sano)
