TOKYO, Nov 1 (Reuters) - Bank of Japan Governor Toshihiko Fukui said on Thursday that he expects his successor to be chosen by the time his term ends next March.

The question of who will replace Fukui has become complicated after a big win by the main opposition Democratic Party in upper house elections in July.

The Democrats, along with other opposition parties, now hold a majority in the chamber, enabling them to block the central bank governor's appointment, which must be approved by both houses of parliament.

"I cannot imagine situations that successors of myself and deputy governors would not be approved by (parliament and cabinet) by the end of our terms in the spring," Fukui told a parliamentary committee.
