American Capital 3rd-quarter earnings fall

NEW YORK, Oct 30 (Reuters) - American Capital Strategies Ltd (ACAS.O: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) on Tuesday said third-quarter net earnings fell as it saw the value of some assets depreciate, but said operating earnings increased by more than 5 percent.

The company said third-quarter earnings fell to 11 cents per share, compared to 92 cents per share in the same quarter a year ago.

The company's third-quarter net operating income increased to $153 million, or 81 cents per share, compared to $110 million, or 77 cents per share, in the third quarter a year earlier.

The company also said it would increase its fourth-quarter dividend by 14 percent to $1, and forecast fourth-quarter net operating earnings in the range of 79 cents to 84 cents per share. (Reporting by Emily Chasan)
