Verizon Wireless sets monthly text message record

NEW YORK, July 24 (Reuters) - Verizon Wireless on Tuesday said its customers sent and received more than 10 billion text messages last month, the highest monthly figure the company has yet posted.

Verizon Wireless, a joint venture between Verizon Communications Inc. (VZ.N: Quote, Profile, Research) and Vodafone Group Plc (VOD.L: Quote, Profile, Research), also said its customers sent and received more than 200 million multimedia messages, which include picture and video messages, in June.
