Verizon Wireless sets monthly text message record

NEW YORK, July 24 (Reuters) - Verizon Wireless on Tuesday said its customers sent and received more than 10 billion text messages last month, the highest monthly figure the company has yet posted.

Verizon Wireless, a joint venture between Verizon Communications Inc. (VZ.N) and Vodafone Group Plc (VOD.L), also said its customers sent and received more than 200 million multimedia messages, which include picture and video messages, in June. (Reporting by Paul Thomasch)
