Hillenbrand reports $23.3 mln 2nd-quarter net

NEW YORK, May 13 (Reuters) - Hillenbrand Inc (HI.N: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) reported on Tuesday second-quarter net income of $23.3 million, or 37 cents per share, in its first quarter of reporting results as a stand-alone company.

Second-quarter revenue rose 5.6 percent to $191.4 million.

Hillenbrand, which has a market capitalization of about $1.3 billion, is the largest U.S. manufacturer of burial caskets. It also makes a line of cremation urns.

It was spun off in March from parent Hillenbrand Industries, which makes hospital beds, stretchers and furniture and changed its name to Hill-Rom Holdings Inc (HRC.N: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz). (Reporting by Helen Chernikoff)
