UPDATE 1-CompX did not infringe Humanscale patent-trade panel

* Patent is for adjustable keyboard platform

* Humanscale patent claims found invalid

WASHINGTON, July 9 (Reuters) - CompX International CIX.N does not infringe a Humanscale Corp patent and may continue selling its ergonomic keyboard supports, a trade panel ruled on Friday.

The U.S. International Trade Commission, which specializes in patent cases, reversed a decision by one of its internal judges, who had said that CompX infringed a Humanscale patent for an adjustable support arm for a keyboard platform designed to make desks more comfortable for workers.

The commission also found that the asserted “claims” -- a term for portions of a patent -- were invalid.

The ITC is a popular venue for trade disputes because it can bar the importation of products made with infringing technology.

The case at the ITC is number 337-670.
