FRANKFURT, Oct 5 (Reuters) - Arcandor AG's (AROG.DE) mail-order unit Primondo aims to be profitable next year as it plans to outperform market growth by 3 to 5 percent, an Arcandor board member told a German newspaper.

Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung reported in a preview of an article to be published on Saturday that Primondo's profit would jump in the coming year, citing board member Marc Sommer.

Its loss-making German Quelle mail-order division, the largest unit of Primondo, will also make a profit in the coming year, Sommer said according to the report.

In the fiscal year 2008/2009 Primondo is targeting a core profit of around 200 million euros ($282.2 million) on sales of a little more than 5 billion euros, according to the report.

In the first quarter of the current fiscal year Primondo mail-order unit saw its earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) loss widen to 31.9 million euros from a year-ago loss of 1.8 million.
