New York & Co. to sell Inter Parfums products
(Adds detail, background)
LOS ANGELES, April 9 (Reuters) - Apparel retailer New York & Company Inc. (NWY.N) said on Monday that Inter Parfums Inc. (IPAR.O) will design and manufacture a new line of personal care products to be sold in New York & Co. stores.
The bath and body products will be in stores late this year or early next year, Inter Parfums Chief Executive Jean Madar said in a statement.
The companies did not disclose the terms of the deal.
Ron Ristau, New York & Co.'s chief financial officer and chief operating officer said no sales target had been set yet, but he estimated the line would include between 25 and 30 different products. In-store marketing would drive the launch.
"We think it's an add-on sale for us," Ristau told Reuters.
The line could eventually expand to include fragrance, he added.
New York & Co. will join retailers such as Gap Inc.'s (GPS.N) Banana Republic and Limited Brand Inc.'s (LTD.N) Victoria's Secret, who offer bath and beauty products, including lotions, fragrances and candles in their stores.
