WASHINGTON, Dec 13 (Reuters) - Dollar Tree Stores Inc (DLTR.O: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) recalled 300,000 baby bead toys and toy cars made in China because they contain excessive levels of lead, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said on Thursday.

The recalled baby toy has colored beads that slide on a wooden platform, while the recalled Speed Racer Pull Back & Go cars are yellow with black stripes and white with red stripes, the government agency said in a statement.

The baby bead toys were sold nationwide from March 2007 through October 2007, while the cars were sold from September 2007 through November 2007, it said.

The CPSC also issued a recall for about 1,000 pieces of Chinese-made Codeena Princess children's metal jewelry because it contains high levels of lead.

If ingested, lead can cause developmental delays and behavioral disorders in children.

The recalled jewelry was sold in a variety of sets including pink or white pearl-like necklace, bracelet and earring or ring combinations. Some sets have studded charms dangling on the bracelet and the necklace.

The jewelry from Codee International Corp of Northvale, New Jersey, was sold at discount stores nationwide from September 2005 through August 2007 for about $5.   Continued...
