Hoya gets Pentax in tender offer-source
TOKYO, Aug 6 (Reuters) - High tech glassmaker Hoya's (7741.T) tender offer for Pentax 7750.T has been successful, a source close to the matter said on Monday.
Hoya Corp. has acquired more than half of Pentax Corp.'s total shares outstanding, meeting the prerequisite for the offer to go through, the source said.
Successful completion was widely expected as Pentax, which makes digital single lens reflex (SLR) cameras and medical endoscopes, had agreed to the planned takeover.
The tender offer closed at 4:00 p.m. (0700 GMT) on Monday.
Hoya has said it will cost about 105 billion yen ($892 million) to acquire the whole of Pentax.
Shares in Hoya ended Tokyo trade down 0.3 percent at 3,790 yen and Pentax fell 2.9 percent to 740 yen, just short of Hoya's offer price of 770 yen per share.
