Conrad Black's son in Toronto hit-run probe: report

TORONTO (Reuters) - Police are investigating the son of imprisoned former media baron Conrad Black over an alleged hit and run traffic accident in Toronto, according to a media report on Friday.

Jonathan Black, 30, was being investigated in connection with an incident late on Thursday at the edge of Toronto's downtown financial district that injured another driver, The Globe and Mail newspaper reported on its Web site.

The newspaper cited two unidentified police sources for the report.

Toronto police confirmed they were investigating a hit-and-run accident and had taken a car into custody, but a spokesman could not comment on whether Black was linked to the incident.

Conrad Black was convicted in July in Chicago on charges of obstructing justice and defrauding shareholders of Hollinger International Inc, once the world's third-largest publisher of English-language newspapers.

The Canadian-born publisher, who is a member of Britain's House of Lords, began serving a 6-1/2-year prison sentence at a prison in Florida on March 3.
